Korea University and Yonsei University are two rival school in South Korea, and there is a competition held every year between KU and YU for the purpose of promoting friendship. It is called the 고연전 (Go-Yeon-Jeon), translating to Korea-Yonsei-Game. However, Yonsei University students call it 연고전 (Yeon-Go-Jeon), putting Yonsei name before Korea University's name. Which is the right order of the names for the event is a subject of a friendly fight between students.

Officially, in odd-numbered years, it is hosted by Yonsei University and is called the Yonsei-Korea Tournament, and in even-numbered years, it is hosted by Korea University and is called the Korea-Yonsei Tournament. It is a mutual courtesy. However, on Korea University campus, people always write Go-Yeon-Jeon (from a distance, it's just 'Go.Jeon') where '.' is used instead of 'Yeon', causing a war of nerves.

This competition originated from the Bo-Yeon match, which was an athletic competition between the Boseong establishment and Yeonhui establishment during the Japanese colonial period.
There is a total of 5 sports games including Baseball, Football, Rugby, Basketball and Ice-Hockey. Each university seek to win 5/0, calling it "오대빵", or "five to zero".
Usually, games are held over two days at Jamsil Sports Complex, Mokdong Sports Complex, or Jangchung Gymnasium.

On the last day, the event continue at the host school and students play what is called "train game". Making group of 10 students, holding each other by the shoulders and going to the street to get free food and alcohol from bars and restaurants around campus. During the train game period, eldery seniors associations from each school are paying all expenses for their juniors to enjoy the day.

Everyone is wearing red and blue clothes, while yelling at each other "Stupid Yonsei ~" or "Stupid Korea ~". There is also a head of the train, who first leads the group to a restaurant and sings a thank you song to the elderies. It is very noisy and the streets are full of life, making it a fun place to visit for students.

It is a very unique experience that I really recommend if you are stuying at any of those universities!
